Amazon has just provided the Paperwhite treatment to its Kindle Touch device thanks to a comprehensive software update that it has made available. What this means is that the humble Kindle Touch device will now boast of all that till now has been the exclusive domain of the Kindle Paperwhite.
Among the new features to look forward to include a refreshed user interface that lists the books in your library by their cover images while the archived books and magazines have come to be known as the cloud section. That surely is a nice and inviting change while others in the list include a new time-to-read feature that can predict the time to read a chapter based on your current reading speed. Reading graphic novels and comics too is now much more exciting thanks to the panel navigation they have been provided with. The list of recommendations will as usual introduce you to new titles though the best thing here is that if you actually buy a book after having sampled it for a while, you get to continue reading the book from exactly the same spot till which you have ‘sampled’. Also a nice feature here is that the recommendation can be turned off if so desired.
The Whispersync for Voice is another nice addition to the Kindle Touch post the update which will allow the reader to carry on with the reading via the voice assisted method from the spot till which the book was read.
In the end, what can be termed most significant is that Amazon has come up with such an important update for a device that it had stopped selling in favor of the Paperwhite. While the latter continues to be sold, those who are still holding on to their Kindle Touch device can enjoy all that the Paperwhite has been known for so far. Except for the Paperwhite’s brilliant front lit display though.here
